Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to plan, prepare, set out and install or repair internal timber flooring directly to joists and over sheet sub-floors and external decking to joists in domestic and commercial settings. There are no specific licensing requirements directly associated with this unit, however, some jurisdictions require the holder of this unit to be licensed or certified and users should check with the relevant authorities. On-site work may require certification of general induction training covered by the National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work (ASCC 2007). | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. Assessors must: satisfy the assessor competency requirements that are in place at the time of the assessment as set by the VET regulator have vocational competency in installing timber flooring to joists at least to the level being assessed with relevant industry knowledge and experience Where possible assessment must occur in operational workplace situations. Where this is not possible or where personal safety or environmental damage are limiting factors, assessment must occur in a sufficiently rigorous simulated environment that reflects realistic operational workplace conditions that cover all aspects of workplace performance, including environment, task skills, task management skills, contingency management skills and job role environment skills. Conditions for assessment must include access to all tools, equipment, materials and documentation required, including relevant workplace procedures, product and manufacturing specifications. Assessment processes and techniques must be appropriate to the language, literacy and numeracy requirements of the work being performed and the needs of the candidate. |
